The WD M20 uses the Empire Star type single-spring, multi-plate dry clutch. Removing or refitting the heavy spring with unsuitable tools risks damaging the fine thread of the retaining nut.
The demonstrated compressor holds the spring under control and allows the assembly to be handled with considerably less effort.
