Site information

Accessibility

The archive is designed to remain readable, navigable and inspectable across devices and input methods.

Design commitments

The site uses semantic headings, visible focus states, keyboard-operable navigation, touch targets of at least 44 pixels, high-contrast text and reduced-motion support. Core articles and archive links remain available without JavaScript.

Images and media

Meaningful images include descriptions based on what is visible. Article photographs can be opened at a larger size; captions stay connected to their images. Video does not autoplay and is loaded only after interaction.

Known limitations

Some historic photographs are soft, unevenly exposed or contain text that is difficult to read. These source characteristics are preserved because the images are part of the restoration record. The owner’s final contact method is still required before visitors can report an accessibility issue directly.
