Film notes
The motorcycle was found in Hermanville-sur-Mer near Juno Beach after having been hidden away for decades. The channel records frame number WM20.9217 and states that the machine was delivered to the War Office in London on 14 November 1939 under contract C/5110.
Black civilian paint covers areas of the original khaki finish. The headlamp was replaced with a larger unit and the original engine was replaced by a 1943 engine. The first stage is to see how carefully the surviving finish can be cleaned before deciding whether fuller restoration is appropriate.
